On the 17th of June 2016, Matt Talbot were joined by a number of community groups including The Equine Centre and Star Ballyfermot to complete a 50km cycle from Ballyfermot to our site in Ballinascorney.
This initiative was supported by the Sports Department of Dublin City Council through National Bike Week and many thanks go to both Derek and Gareth for the level of preparation which they invested in making this a great success.
In the lead up to this, the various groups had been involved in a bicycle maintenance course and weekly cycle runs of increasing length culminating in the cycle to Ballinascorney.
As anyone who knows the local terrain around Ballinascorney will know there are a number of very unforgiving hills in the approach to the Centre which would test even a seasoned cyclist.
All cyclists and support staff were greeted at the Centre in Ballinascorney with home made soup, sandwiches and beautiful desserts all prepared by Trish Talbot.
Matt Talbot would like to also thank Dave Burn for organising St John’s Ambulance who followed the route to Ballinascorney and back to Ballyfermot
