On the 7th September we welcomed volunteers from Deloitte for their annual Impact Day. We have been taking part for the last several years and the days just keep getting better and better. In a change from the usual location the day took place on our site in Ballyfermot with 35 volunteers from Deloitte coming to help us give our buildings a facelift!
The offices and classrooms of both of our buildings were painted with each building now having a different theme; blue and purple. Luckily, the majority of the paint ended up on the walls and our rooms are now looking brighter than ever. A group of volunteers also did some gardening which saw a large amount of branches being cleared and our outside wall being painted.
Of course, it would not be a Matt Talbot Impact Day without a delicious meal. Food and sitting down around the table to enjoy meals together is a hugely important part of what we do. Every day here begins and ends with a hot meal for our group members and Thursday was no different. We would like to say a huge thank you to Jonathan who cooked an incredible meal of curry with flavoured rice, naan bread and a mint and yogurt dip.
The Matt Talbot is extremely fortunate in that our relationship with Deloitte has been an enduring one. The support of organisations such as Deloitte makes a significant difference to our ability to support the individuals that we work with. Central to our approach is the inclusion of our group members. Impact Days are a great opportunity for two communities that would never have met otherwise to come together. A sincere thank you to all the Deloitte volunteers who turned up on the day!
