Family Support Programme
The Matt Talbot Community Trust needs volunteers both sessional and residential to support us in the operation of our Family Summer Programme.
Every year the organisation runs a residential summer programme from our centre St Martin’s in Ballinascorney in the Dublin Mountains. The programme operates five days per week over four weeks. The organisation invites families of our current and ex-participants to join us for a number of days each.
The programme is designed to encourage families to interact with each other outside of their normal environment, creating opportunities for conflict resolution and bonding. This programme is central to the family support element of the approach of the Matt Talbot Community Trust, strengthening family relationships which have often been impacted by addiction issues.
The Matt Talbot Community Trust considers that the family is one of the key contributors to change and provoking desistance within the individual. Through our family summer programme, the staff of the Matt Talbot can begin to understand and work on the issues that affect the family and bring a different dynamic to our general programme development.
If you feel you have the skills, build on your work experience for social care and have the motivation please get in contact with us.
